Do you love your experience when you visit us at Mountain Waves?

If so, tell the whole community by voting for us in the 2009 Arizona Daily Sun “Best of Flagstaff” survey!

Look for the category under “Services” that best describes your experience, like:
“Best Holistic/Alternative to Medicine”  or  “Best Place to Get a Massage” or whatever other category you feel we fit into for you.

robeThe results of our bodywork amenity survey revealed several details about your preferences that we didn’t know before.  For example, most of you felt there was little value in changing into a robe before your session, if you were not going to shower.  Likewise, most of you also felt that it was more valuable to change out of your clothes right in the therapy room itself, rather than using the shower room.  Nearly everyone felt that using the on-line scheduler to manage your appointments was highly important.  To see the complete survey results, click here.

So based on your guidance, we will implement the following changes effective Monday October 12. It will no longer be necessary to change into a robe when you arrive for your appointment.  You are welcome to sit in the quiet area in your street clothes if you desire.  Please remember to leave your shoes in the hallway as usual.

If you do wish to change into a robe, you’ll still have that choice.  Robes will now be stacked in the shower room.  That way, if you desire to shower before your session you’ll be able to do that and have access to a robe in the shower room.  Likewise, if after your session you decide you’d like to shower, a robe will be available to you in the therapy room which you can wear to the shower room.  Don’t forget to take your clothes with you!

Look for those minor changes on your next visit.  Everything else remains the same.  The lockers will be there for you to store your personal belongings if you desire.  Our on-line scheduler will remain the same and of course the quality of your massage therapy will be as good as always!

Naturally in doing some things a little differently, there are likely to be a few mix-ups.  So please let us know if something is not working to the high standards we hope to create for you during your visit.

Are you an instructor looking for space to hold your class?  Mountain Waves Healing Arts has made our 940 square foot studio available to instructors for regular rental for classes in any of the healing arts and movement modalities.  Learn more about it by clicking here or by calling Roxanne at (928) 526-1961 x2.  You can also e-mail her at Roxanne@MWHealingArts.com.

Starting on October 1st, not only will still have classes in Yoga and Tai Chi from the instructors you know, but we’ll now have additional classes from new instructors to Mountain Waves, but not new to Flagstaff. Plus, we’ll be bringing back classes in Pilates and adding other types of fitness classes like Zumba!

It is our goal to provide you with more variety of classes from the best instructors in Flagstaff. In order to attract and partner with the best teachers, we’ve found that a slight modification to our internal structure is key to making this happen for you.

Instead of Mountain Waves being the central coordinator for each of the classes, starting October 1st we are freeing each instructor to create their class in the best way they believe will serve you. We believe that will create a more personalized experience for you in your favorite class.

This does create some minor changes for you. While you’ll still receive class announcements and information by e-mail and on our website, specific class status and changes will be handled directly by the instructor. Each instructor’s contact information will be available to you on our website.

Additionally, payment will be made directly to your instructor in cash or check, rather than to Mountain Waves. If you wish to use your credit or debit card, you can still do that too. Rates for classes and any packages will be up to each instructor. That information will also be available on our website.

What it means for September is that we’ll only be selling 4 or 8 class passes that you feel you’ll use up by the end of the month. This will help us prepare for this transition starting October 1st.  We’ll continue to keep you posted by e-mail, Facebook, in person and on our website with more information during the coming weeks. If you have questions in the meantime, please feel free to contact us.

Join us this weekend at the Flagstaff Yoga Festival.  We’ll be at the festival all three days from Friday August 7th through Sunday August 9th.  As a result we won’t be holding our regular weekend classes.  That means no Joyful Morning Yoga on Saturday the 8th nor Yoga Basics on Sunday the 9th.  The rest of the week is as normal.

If you haven’t already heard, the Flagstaff Yoga Festival is a first annual event organized by our very own instructor Laura Brown.  The festival will host over 100 workshops and classes in all forms and traditions of yoga by local instructors from around our area.    Plus there’s a Wellness Marketplace with over 40 exhibitors, demos, bodywork, raffles and a Yoga Swap!   A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Northern Arizona,  Sierra Club and the Pine Forest Charter School.

Check out more information at the Flagstaff Yoga Festival’s website by clicking here.

We’ll see you there!
Namaste’

Due to a last minute change in the availability of our instructor and because we don’t have a back-up instructor who could cover these two classes, we are forced to cancel the 5:30pm Yoga Basics class for Wednesday July 1st and the 9:15am Joyful Morning Yoga class for Thursday July 2nd.

We apologize for any inconvenince.

AquaZae’ is our form of aquatic bodywork.  Yet, the idea of performing massage or bodywork in water seems so counter intuitive for most people, that just describing it doesn’t answer most of the questions that arise when discussing it.

That’s why we’ve created a video to help illustrate what AquaZae’ is all about.  Let us know what you think and please ask us any question you may have about the profound experience of AquaZae’.
